Brainforest position paper on the Congo Basin Forest Partnership meeting held on December 2-3 in Libreville
The Gabonese NGO, Brainforest, shares its position concerning an in-depth review of the objectives and implementation methods of the Congo Basin Forest Partnership, that met in Libreville on 2nd and 3rd December 2013. The revision of the national legal framework, the link between forests and land rights, consultation and Free, Prior, Informed Consent (FPIC), the involvement of local populations, participatory management of natural resources, the specificity of indigenous peoples rights, and the financing of local development initiatives are all areas in which Brainforest has called on the Partnership to engage for a review of its framework, and objectives 11 years after its creation.
